Google launched Gemini AI model

Google launched Gemini AI model on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Google says that the most advanced version of its newly launched AI model, Gemini Ultra, is able to outperform human experts on certain tests. Google’s own AI chips, Gemini can process information from video, text, image, code and audio sources and is capable of complex reasoning and grasping new knowledge.

Google Gemini AI Introduction

Google Gemini is introduced by By Demis Hassabis, CEO and Co-Founder of Google DeepMind, a child organization of Google.

Gemini is the result of large-scale collaborative efforts by teams across Google, including our colleagues at Google Research. It was built from the ground up to be multimodal, which means it can generalize and seamlessly understand, operate across, and combine different types of information including text, code, audio, image, and video.”, Demis Hassabis, wrote in the Official blog post

Google Gemini, a Multimodal Technology

From the beginning when CEO Sundar Pichai first announced Gemini on May 10 at the Google I/O developer conference: Google was developing a next-generation AI. The project expands on PaLM 2, a Google AI and is headed by the Google teams Brain Team and DeepMind.

From the start when Gemini was first announced on May 10 during the Google I/O developer conference by CEO Sundar Pichai himself, one thing was made clear: Google was building a next-generation AI. The project, led by Google teams Brain Team and DeepMind, builds upon PaLM 2.

PaLM 2, or Pathways Language Model 2, is the core technology that Google uses to drive AI capabilities throughout its suite of products. This includes Google Cloud products and services, Gmail, Google Workspace, hardware devices such as the Pixel smartphone, and, of course, the famous AI chatbot Bard.

Gemini is More than Human AI

The human brain is brilliantly complex. It can simultaneously translate and understand various data formats, including text, words, sounds, and visuals. This allows us to make sense of the world around us, respond to stimuli, and solve problems in creative and innovative ways. And that is what Google’s Gemini is all about. A new AI that comes closer to what humans really do: a multi-tasking multimodal AI.

There is only one way to create elegant and efficient multimodal AI. That is combining different AI models into one. Machine learning and AI models such as graph processing, computer vision, audio processing, language models, coding and programming, and 3D models need to be integrated and coordinated to achieve cooperation when developing multimodal AI.

Because Gemini 1.0 was trained to understand complex information and provide answers to questions about various subjects. Because of this, it excels at explaining thinking in challenging subjects like Physics and Math.

Gemini 1.0 is capable of understanding, explaining, and producing top-notch code in the most widely used programming languages worldwide, including Python, Java, C++, and Go. It is one of the most popular foundation models for coding in the world because of its capacity to function across languages and reason about complex data.

Gemini Sizes

Gemini is also most flexible model yet and able to efficiently run on everything from data centers to mobile devices. Its state-of-the-art capabilities will significantly enhance the way developers and enterprise customers build and scale with AI.

Google optimized Gemini 1.0, for three different sizes:

  • Gemini Ultra : Largest and most capable model for highly complex tasks.
  • Gemini Pro : Best model for scaling across a wide range of tasks.
  • Gemini Nano : Most efficient model for on-device tasks.

More Dependable, Expandable, and Effective

Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) v4 and v5e, which Google created in-house, were used to train Gemini 1.0 at scale on its AI-optimized infrastructure. Furthermore, it is the most dependable, scalable, and effective model that Google have ever created for training.

Gemini performs noticeably faster on TPUs than previous, less capable, and smaller variants. Google’s AI-powered products, such as Search, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Play, and Android, are used by billions of people worldwide. These specially created AI accelerators are the foundation of these products.

Google Gemini Responsibility and Security

Google is always dedicated to developing brave and ethical AI. By integrating additional safeguards to accommodate Gemini’s multimodal capabilities, Google expanding on its AI Principles and the strict safety guidelines that apply to all of their products. Google think about potential risks at every level of development and try to test and reduce them.
